We had the great honor to be invited by our wonderful client, Color of Crohn’s and Chronic Illness, to their 2nd Annual Equity in IBD Conference. With Foxy Roxy and 90 pounds of program books in tow, we flew to Atlanta, arriving just in time to help set up.

It was epic seeing our designs at full scale, but the highlight of our trip was finally meeting the COCCI team in person and hanging with all their wonderful Ambassadors.

We will treasure our time at the 2022 Equity in IBD conference with the COCCI family.
The delicious food, fabulous music, and dancing was amazing, but what we will treasure most is
garnering a new perspective of our healthcare system through the eyes of patients with chronic illness
and the realization that together we have the power to inspire real change.

Thank you for sharing your journeys with us.

We learned so much about IBD from all of you and our conversations opened our eyes to the struggles of misdiagnosis and the gaslighting minority patients experience, as well the complexities of navigating the healthcare system as a patient with chronic illness.

We also met many compassionate doctors and healthcare workers who are changing the tides. Doctors that see their patients as real people with hopes and dreams, not just a list of symptoms. Doctors who advocate for their patients and care deeply about their quality of life. Healthcare advocates eager to offer support and guidance. Healthcare workers who have devoted their lives to researching and developing new pharmaceutical or surgical solutions to help IBD patients live happier and fuller lives.

Seeing everyone come together and have such meaningful conversations gave us a glimpse of what a supportive and equitable healthcare system could look like and how organizations like COCCI are making it happen.

After we arrived home from Atlanta, Foxy was so eager to go back that she spent the whole afternoon sitting in her travel carrier. We couldn’t blame her. We all had a marvelous time and are brimming with ideas for next year!

Thank you Melodie Narain-Blackwell, the COCCI team, and all the sponsors, partners, volunteers,
doctors, and ambassadors who made this phenomenal event possible.

Can’t wait for Equity in GI 2023!
