It was a great honor for us to be invited to speak at the launch event for CNHED’s groundbreaking DC SmallBizHelp website. Thank you to everyone who came out to support CNHED’s latest project and to the Truist Charitable Fund at the Winston-Salem Foundation for making it all possible.

Over the past two years, we’ve worked closely with the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development to create this invaluable resource for DC entrepreneurs. Whether you’re looking to start a new business or grow an existing one, the DC SmallBizHelp website is an invaluable resource, connecting you with the critical resources and support you need.

I wish we had a resource like DC SmallBizHelp when we started Sabra Creative in DC 12 years ago. It would have saved us so much time and stress navigating the complex process of starting a business.

Figuring out the necessary licenses, registering with the right government agencies, and identifying potential funding sources can be incredibly daunting, especially for those without prior business management experience.

Many entrepreneurs are experts in their respective fields, but lack the specialized knowledge required to successfully launch and operate a small business. This knowledge gap is likely a contributing factor to the high failure rate among small businesses within the first five years. When you start a business, you are essentially thrown into the deep end, and it’s up to you to stay afloat.

It is our hope that the DC SmallBizHelp website will serve as a lifeline,
providing entrepreneurs with the critical resources and support they need
to not just survive, but thrive.
