The Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development is an enormous resource.
Since its inception 20 years ago, CNHED has grown from 55 organizations to nearly 140 today.

In that time, they have expanded their role in the community,
providing a slew of resources, programs, advocacy groups, and training events year round.

Needless to say, the amount of content that needed to be collected and updated for CNHED’s new website was staggering.

We collected information on all of their programs, tons of searchable resources, and 11 years worth of articles and reports from their old site. We also folded three other pre-existing websites for their DCAP, DC Small Business, and VISTA programs into the main website.

In just 6 month’s time, the Sabra team designed and developed over 60 unique webpages, merged 4 websites into 1–all without breaking a sweat.

How did we do it?

By following our proven process.

Organized Content Gathering

Before we let our designers even look at the project we make sure to gather all the content into one place.

90% of all edits we receive are copy edits. By organizing and finalizing content before we start designing, we eliminate unnecessary edit phases, streamlining the design process.

The first month is devoted entirely to content gathering and organizing. First, we create an interactive sitemap that links to separate creative briefs for each webpage that needs to be designed. The CNHED team was able to easily access and update these as they finalized their copy. Next, we set up a video conference with CNHED’s lead stakeholders to discuss functionality and navigational issues they wanted to rectify on the new website to help inform our User Interface (UI) design.

Informed Designs

We take the guesswork out of design.

Before the design phase begins, we worked with CNHED to understand their aesthetic preferences and brand guidelines. These conversations, along with provided stylistic examples, help our designers work from a place of knowledge and avoid guesswork.

Easy Feedback

Giving feedback during the design and development phases is so easy, you can do it on your phone!

Because of our online review tools, we are able to receive reviews from multiple stakeholders throughout the design and development process. This allows CNHED’s entire team to discuss each other’s inputs and reach a consensus before our design team starts editing. Nothing falls through the cracks. Every stakeholder is invested in the design from start to finish.

Clear & Consistent Communication

We go out of our way to keep our clients informed every step of the way.

Clear communication is key to a successful project. CNHED’s key stakeholders received weekly email updates with links to their latest designs to review, tasks, and project timeline. We set up every project on our online project management platform, Teamwork, so our clients can see what is being worked on, by whom, and when they can expect their next deliverable.

Thank you, CNHED.

We would like to thank the CNHED team for entrusting us with their website.
The CNHED website is the most comprehensive collection of housing resources in DC and we feel honored to have been a part of the initiative to make it a resource everyone can count on. We hope that this new website will help more DC residents find the help they need, and spread prosperity throughout our DC community.
