Making sure DC gets fed

The COVID-19 pandemic caught many of us off guard and while everything ground to a halt around us, Martha’s Table kicked it into high gear.

For 40 Years, Martha’s Table has worked to support strong children, strong families, and strong communities here in DC. In 2019 alone, Martha’s Table had 162,000 visits by community members to their healthy food markets.

A growing need in DC

Since the COVID-19 quarantine began, requests for food has increased by 400%. As unemployment goes up, that number will continue to rise.

Thankfully Martha’s Table is ready. They’ve expanded their work to unprecedented levels, tripling the groceries they deliver and allowing visitors to come shop as often as they need.

In addition to their healthy food markets, Martha’s Table started a Sidewalk Bootcamp to help DC residents stay active, partnered with the DC Diaper Bank to collect and deliver diapers to mothers in need, and joined the Food it Forward initiative helping local restaurants stay in business during the pandemic.
